The Song You Were Born to Sing

excellence faith high performance identity leadership purpose Mar 31, 2026

I’ve been keeping my commitment to get outside every day, and I’m always rewarded by something special.
Today, it was a bird I had never heard before.
He wasn’t holding back — he was full of joy!
He wasn’t waiting for permission.
He was simply thrilled to be who he was - alone on a leafless branch.

His song was new to me, and it felt like a gift. We stopped to find him and just listen. I’ve learned to pay attention to moments like that. I really do believe God places gifts exactly where we need them most -often in the smallest, most unexpected ways.
And this little bird, singing his heart out on a quiet spring morning, felt like a reminder straight from Him:
Celebrate life. Enjoy the gifts I’ve given you to share.
Stop comparing your song to someone else’s.
Just sing.
I know I forget that sometimes. Maybe you do too.
We start comparing.
We start shrinking.
We forget that our gifts were never meant to match anyone else’s.
We were meant to celebrate theirs -
and use ours to serve, love, and lift the people around us.
This is the kind of transformation I love walking leaders through - helping them use the gifts God placed in them with joy instead of comparison.
Maybe that’s the invitation of every morning:
Wake up.
Notice the gifts.
Celebrate others.
And offer your own, fully and joyfully.

Are you singing your own beautiful song with joy today - the one your people actually need - or trying to echo someone else’s?

Will you own your leafless branch and sing to the world?
