Leadership Growth starts with Character

Leadership doesn’t change because we learn a new trick.

It changes because we do.

Hello friends!

To say I read a lot is an understatement. I love growth books, idea books, leadership books — all of it. My friend Rachael and I are constantly swapping titles. But lately, we’ve both noticed something:

There really aren’t many new leadership books offering new tools.

Most of the ideas are familiar - just rearranged, renamed, or repackaged.

And while those books have great tools, what seems important to me is this;

Leadership impact is driven by character and personal growth, not by the latest tip or rebranded concept.

Nothing changes in your leadership if you aren’t growing.

You can try new tools, but if the foundation isn’t there, they won’t take root.

Sustainable change comes from improving ourselves - the invisible work of self‑leadership.

Growing a little each day.

Being honest with ourselves.

Showing up as people who are trying to get better.

It reminds me of The Book of Virtues by William Bennett - a book built around qualities that have guided people for generations: self‑discipline, compassion, responsibility, friendship, work, courage, perseverance, honesty, loyalty, and faith.

The Bible says the same in its own way - how to love, care, honor, and treat people the way God asks us to.

Integrity. Stewardship. Courage.

Using the gifts He gave us.

None of this is new.

It doesn’t need to be. Because these are the things that actually change us - and the way we lead.

God gave you something unique.

Will you accept the challenge to grow it and use it?

Craig Groeschel says, “Everyone wins when the leader gets better.”

I believe that. When we aspire to be better, our teams, our friends, and our families all benefit.

What strength will you grow to day?  I believe you can make a difference.
